Red Queen - Victoria Aveyard (Red Queen #1)

This book is just amazing. There are no words to explain it. The last time that I was able to read a book so fast was Jennifer L. Armentrout's or Suzanne Collins books. Any of her books made me flip through the pages like crazy.

Victoria Aveyard is the debut author of 2015 and she has done a fantastic job with her first published book and congratulations is in order.

Red Queen is an amazing book although the similarities are uncanny in some of the books that I have already read such as the Selection series.

Some of the similarities include:

Caste systems
Selection of the bride for the prince
Strong female character that is in love with childhood best friend who falls in love with the prince

Those are some of the simple ones and from the reviews that I have read, there are a lot more similarities with Red Dawn, which I slightly understand because even in the book, it includes some of  Red Dawn.

However, even with the uncanny similarities, I still read on and loved it.

Published Date: February 10, 2015
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Synopsis: The poverty stricken Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers.

To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change.

Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of
those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control.

But power is a dangerous game. And in this world divided by blood, who will win?

One of my absolute favorite quotes from the book is,

"Anyone can betray anyone..."

I rate this book a solid 4.7 stars out of 5. Only a .3 knock off for the similarities. Do read this book!

Thanks for reading awesome book nerds.
